Looking SW towards front of lot The area to the left is just below the site of the Northern Pacific Beneficial Association Hospital. In 1882 the Northern Pacific Railroad established the Northern Pacific Beneficial Association. By 1905 many hospital sites were located throughout the country. The westernmost hospital unit was located in Tacoma. Railroad employees were offered the option to enroll for heathcare coverage for a nominal premium. The hospital has since been torn down and replaced by a Seniors only apartment complex.
