Our Brokers: Past and Present

JULIE M. COLLISON
 

Julie was born in Tacoma, Washington and attended schools in the Franklin Pierce and Tacoma Public School districts. She attended Green River Community College and began her career in the title insurance industry, helping to set up the plant and working at Rainier Title Company in 1979. In 1981 she began a career in the lending industry at Tacoma Savings and Loan as a loan representative. She has worked with various banks, lenders and loan brokers, including Security Pacific Mortgage, ARC's Mortgage, Professional Mortgage, Key Mortgage Services and Heritage Bank. She obtained her real estate license in 1989, when she was on maternity leave with her first daughter. She and her husband, Pat, purchased Collison Realty April 1, 1991 from Pat's father Dayle. She worked with her husband as office manager and as a licensed sales person until Pat passed away on April 1, 2005. After his passing, Julie was appointed temporary broker. She then attended many brokerage classes and took and passed the real estate broker exam, becoming the designated broker on September 3, 2005. Julie has had many volunteer positions over the years, including elected positions in cooperative preschools, PTA organizations, Girl Scouts of America, and various real estate committees. She continues to volunteer her time and improve her education, striving to learn as much as possible about the real estate industry.

WILLIAM "PAT" COLLISON 4/29/55-4/01/05

Pat was born in Ft. Lewis, Wa on 4/29/55 and attended Franklin Pierce Schools including the old Parkland School (which is located directly across from our current office location), Kiethly and Franklin Pierce High School. He was involved in wrestling and drama and starred in the school production of “Bus Stop”.

He then attended Western University in Bellingham, WA for two years, making lasting friendships there. He then transferred to Washington State University graduating in Business, specializing in Real Estate, being in the first class to graduate from WSU in the real estate department. He had always planned to “follow in his father’s footsteps” and began his career in 1978, working with his father at Collison Realty, located at 1101 E 112th St. Pat was top salesperson many times throughout his career at Collison Realty. He was also involved with the local and state Association of Realtors, donating many hours of time to aid in planning and helping his real estate community. He was involved with Tacoma Pierce Multiple Listing Service, serving as their president and vice president as well as donating many hours of service and having nunmerous commmittee appointments, as well as being chairperson of the Professional Standards Committee and the Grievance Committee. He attended real estate conventions, educational seminars and classes as he was always wanting to learn something new and keep himself sharp and up to date with the latest changes.

Pat married Julie M. Keller on March 18, 1989 and together they produced 4 beautiful children; Cassandra, Alexandria, Michelle and Tony. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing and leading his own “Trash Band” for several years with some of his buddies.

Pat was honest, fair and ethical in his business proceedings and the return clients and referrals are a testament to his abilities. He was a tough negotiator and was well versed in ettiquete. He enjoyed vacations with his family and was very close to his Mom and Dad.

On April 1, 2005, Pat suffered and died of a heart attack. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He leaves behind many friends, family and business associates who miss him. He made a difference in our lives.

B. DAYLE COLLISON

Dayle was born in Northwest Missouri, and entered the Army in July 1940. During World War II, he served in the Southwest Pacific with the 31st Infantry Division. Dayle spent a total of 22 years in the Army, retiring in March 1962. During his military career, he spent 9 years as a paratrooper and 8 years as an Army Aviator with assignmeots in personnel staff and command positions.

Dayle entered the Real Estate profession immediately upon leaving military service, working in the Parkland office of Tacoma Realty until he established our present firm. Since his first day in the business, Dayle has been active in organized Real Estate and Education.

After serving as a Director, officer and on many committees of both the Tacoma Multiple Listing Service and the Tacoma-Pierce County Board of Realtors, he was elected President of the Board of Realtors in 1969 and received the Realtor of the Year award in 1970. In 1976, he was elected to a three year term as a Director of the National Association of Realtors and in 1978 was elected President of the Washington'Association of Realtors. In 1978, he was also named Realtor of the Year for the 15,000 member Washington Association of Realtors. Dayle served three terms as a Washington State Real Estate Commissioner, appointed by the Governor.

Dayle has been an instructor in many state and local educational conferences and real estate classes. In 1970, he was awarded the GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute) designation and in 1974 he was awarded the CRB (Certified Residential Broker) designation from the National Association of Realtors.

Dayle has also involved himself in many community activities. He is a charter member and past President of the Parkland Lions Club, a past President of the Parkland Businessman's Club, and a member of the Pierce County Planning Commission. He continues to be active in Real Estate organization, political and legislative matters effecting Real property and general community affairs.
